About Currency Converter

The Currency Converter turns an amount in one currency into another using a clear cross-rate calculation.

Because My Tools Garage is strictly client-side and never calls the network, this tool does not pull live exchange rates; instead it ships with an editable table of indicative rates that you update with today's figures, and then does the arithmetic instantly and privately.

That trade-off is deliberate and, for many jobs, an advantage.

You can paste the exact rate your bank or invoice uses and get a number that matches their paperwork to the cent, rather than a mid-market figure that quietly differs.

The conversion routes through a common base, so any pair works — convert euros to yen, pounds to rupees, or anything in between — and the implied "1 unit = X" rate is shown so you can sanity-check it.

Amounts update as you type.

Everything happens locally, so nothing about what you are converting is uploaded or logged, and it keeps working on a plane or behind a firewall.

Set your rates once and the table stays put for the session.

FAQ

Does it fetch live exchange rates?

No. My Tools Garage never uses the network, so rates do not update automatically. You edit the rate table with current figures and the tool does the maths offline.

How is a non-USD pair calculated?

Every rate is stored as units per 1 USD, so any pair is converted via a cross-rate of (rate to ÷ rate from).

Is my data private?

Completely. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.
