in-browser

How to use

  1. 1 Enter the frequency value you want to convert.
  2. 2 Pick the unit that value is currently in.
  3. 3 Read the equivalent value in every other frequency unit.
  4. 4 Check the period and copy the full list of conversions.

About Frequency Converter

The Frequency Converter turns one frequency value into its equivalent across every common unit at once, plus the corresponding period.

Frequency measures how many times something repeats per second, and engineers, musicians, radio hobbyists and physics students all juggle different units for it.

Type a number, choose its unit, and the tool instantly shows the same frequency in hertz, kilohertz, megahertz, gigahertz, terahertz, revolutions per minute, radians per second and beats per minute.

The hertz is the SI unit, defined as one cycle per second, and the decimal prefixes scale it by powers of a thousand all the way up to terahertz.

Revolutions per minute and beats per minute are sixtieths of a hertz, which is why 60 rpm equals exactly 1 Hz and 120 bpm equals 2 Hz — handy when matching a metronome tempo to a precise rate.

Radians per second relate to hertz through a factor of two pi, the conversion that links ordinary frequency to angular frequency in rotating and oscillating systems.

The tool also reports the period, the time taken for a single cycle, which is simply the reciprocal of the frequency in hertz.

Negative values are rejected because frequency cannot be negative, and zero is handled cleanly.

Everything runs locally in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and it keeps working offline once loaded.

FAQ

How are rpm and bpm related to hertz?

Both are counts per minute, so they equal one sixtieth of a hertz. 60 rpm is exactly 1 Hz, and 120 bpm is 2 Hz.

What is the difference between hertz and radians per second?

Radians per second is angular frequency. To convert, multiply hertz by 2π, so 1 Hz equals about 6.283 rad/s.

What does the period value mean?

The period is the time for one full cycle, equal to one divided by the frequency in hertz. A 2 Hz signal has a period of 0.5 seconds.
