About Average Calculator

The Average Calculator turns a list of numbers into the statistics people actually mean when they say "average".

Paste or type your values — separated by commas, spaces or new lines — and it instantly returns the arithmetic mean, the median, the mode, the range, and the underlying sum and count.

Each measure tells a different story.

The mean adds everything up and divides by how many values there are, which is the everyday average but can be pulled around by a single very large or very small number.

The median is the middle value once the data is sorted, so it shrugs off outliers and often describes "typical" better.

The mode is the value (or values) that appear most often, useful for spotting the most common result, and this tool correctly reports more than one mode when the data is tied.

The range — the gap between the largest and smallest value — gives a quick sense of how spread out everything is.

Everything is computed locally in your browser, so your numbers are never uploaded or stored, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

It handles decimals and negatives, and tells you clearly if a value is not a valid number.

FAQ

What is the difference between mean, median and mode?

The mean is the sum divided by the count, the median is the middle value when sorted, and the mode is the most frequently occurring value. Each can differ, especially with skewed data.

Can it show more than one mode?

Yes. If two or more values are tied for most frequent, all of them are listed. If every value is unique, no mode is reported.

Are my numbers sent anywhere?

No. All calculations happen in your browser; nothing is uploaded, logged or stored.
