About IMEI Validator
The IMEI Validator confirms whether a 15-digit International Mobile Equipment Identity number is genuine before you trust it.
Every phone, tablet and cellular modem carries an IMEI that uniquely identifies the hardware, and the final digit is a Luhn (mod-10) checksum calculated from the other fourteen.
This tool recomputes that checksum and tells you instantly whether the number you typed is internally consistent.
Beyond a simple yes/no, it breaks the IMEI into its meaningful parts: the eight-digit Type Allocation Code that identifies the manufacturer and model, the leading Reporting Body Identifier, and the six-digit serial that distinguishes individual units.
When a number fails the check, the tool shows the check digit it should have had and offers a corrected version, which is handy for spotting a single mistyped digit when copying an IMEI off a box, a settings screen or a warranty form.
Separators are forgiven, so you can paste a number with spaces or dashes exactly as printed.
Everything runs locally in your browser — no IMEI is ever uploaded, logged or stored — making it safe to check numbers from receipts, insurance claims or second-hand listings.
Note that a valid checksum proves the number is well-formed, not that the device is genuine or unblocked.
FAQ
How is an IMEI validated?
The first 14 digits are run through the Luhn (mod-10) algorithm to produce a check digit, which must match the 15th digit. This tool performs exactly that calculation.
Does a valid IMEI mean the phone is genuine or unlocked?
No. A passing checksum only proves the number is well-formed. It cannot tell you whether the device is blacklisted, stolen or carrier-locked — that requires a network database lookup.
Where can I find my device IMEI?
Dial *#06# on most phones, or look in Settings under About, on the SIM tray, or on the original packaging.
