About Flatten PDF Forms
The Flatten PDF Forms tool takes a fillable PDF and locks its current field values into the page, turning interactive checkboxes, text fields and dropdowns into ordinary printed-looking content.
Drop in a completed form, see how many fields it contains, and download a flattened copy whose answers can no longer be changed.
This is the step people forget after filling in an application, invoice or consent form: the values are saved inside live form fields, which means a recipient can still tab into them and alter the text, or a different PDF viewer might render them inconsistently or not at all.
Flattening solves both problems at once.
It draws the current appearance of every field directly onto the page and then removes the interactive layer, so what you see is exactly what everyone else will see, in any reader, when printed or when archived.
The flattening is performed by pdf-lib entirely inside your browser, so a signed or sensitive form never leaves your device and the tool keeps working offline.
Note that flattening is about fixing appearance, not encryption — it makes fields non-editable in normal use but is not a security measure.
Your original file is read only; the flattened version is a fresh download you save separately.
FAQ
What does flattening actually do?
It paints each form field's current value onto the page and removes the interactive field, so the answers display the same everywhere and can no longer be edited in a normal viewer.
Is this the same as password-protecting the PDF?
No. Flattening fixes the appearance of the fields but is not encryption or security. It stops casual edits, not a determined editor.
Is my form uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is done with pdf-lib in your browser, so the document never leaves your device.
