About Image Border / Padding

The Image Border / Padding tool wraps your picture in an even frame of solid colour, which is handy for breathing room around product shots, a matte around a screenshot, a uniform edge for a social post, or simple white padding to square off an awkward crop.

Drop in a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF and choose how many pixels of border you want and what colour it should be.

Everything happens on a fresh canvas: the tool grows the canvas by your border width on every side and re-draws your untouched original in the centre, so the image itself is never stretched, blurred or re-compressed.

Because each change redraws from the original, you can scrub the border width up and down or swap colours as many times as you like without quality loss building up.

The colour picker accepts any hex value, so you can match a brand background or pick plain white or black.

No pixels ever leave your device — the image is decoded, framed and previewed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, which keeps private photos and client work private and means it still works offline.

When the frame looks right, download a lossless PNG that preserves the original detail and any transparency.

FAQ

Does adding a border change my original image quality?

No. The original is drawn at full size onto a larger canvas, so its pixels are untouched — only the surrounding frame is new.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The framing is done with the Canvas API inside your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

Can I make the border transparent?

The colour picker uses solid colours, but you can pick white or any background colour to match where the image will be placed.
