About Circle-crop Avatar
The Circle-crop Avatar tool turns any rectangular photo into a clean round profile picture with a transparent background, ready for forums, chat apps, team pages, Gravatar-style avatars or anywhere a circular image is expected.
Drop in a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF and the tool takes the largest centred square of your picture, draws it inside a circular clip path, and leaves the corners fully transparent.
You control the output diameter, so you can export a crisp 256-pixel avatar, a small 48-pixel icon, or a large 1024-pixel version — the source square is scaled to whatever size you ask for.
Because the result is a circle on a transparent canvas rather than a circle drawn on a coloured square, it sits cleanly on any background without an ugly box around it.
A checkerboard behind the preview shows you exactly which areas are see-through.
Every step runs locally with the Canvas API: the photo is decoded, cropped and previewed inside your browser and never uploaded, which keeps personal headshots private and lets the tool work offline.
When the circle looks right, download a lossless PNG that keeps the transparency intact so it drops straight into your profile.
FAQ
Will the corners be transparent?
Yes. The image is clipped to a circle on a transparent canvas, and the PNG download preserves that transparency so it sits cleanly on any background.
Which part of my photo is used?
The largest centred square of the image is taken and fitted to the circle, so keep your subject roughly in the middle for the best result.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The cropping happens with the Canvas API inside your browser, so the file never leaves your device.
